I was your biggest fan back in the 80's...when Brenda Barkley used to get you guys gigs...those were the days....I would walk in the door where you were playing and the next song you would sing would be for me.." Holdin' On".....I LOVED to hear you sing! I still have the cassette of Just Plain Folk and am still amazed at the work you did on Silvie....Loved Weary Hobo too! I could listen to you sing all night long and never tire of your voice.

Martin, you captured your spirit so beautifully on this album! Vunerable, playful, joyous, sad, flirty, simple, oy I felt like I was sitting next to you on our car ride to Montreal. I just loved it. I can hear your smile as you sing your lines (that is such a wonderful thing!)

I'm sending this via email too, so I know you'll get it one way or another :)
I'm not sure if you remember me or not, but quite a few years ago, you gave me one of your BearNaked CDs. It's been so long, I don't even remember where it was...
Innyhoo, I've enjoyed it over and over thru the years, and I'm getting ready to do a bear-themed show here in NYC, and planned to include "Teddy Bear's Lullabye," and thought you'd might to know that :)
Also, if you have any other bear-themed songs you've written since your cd came out, I'd be very interested in hearing them. I should have written you sooner, as the show opens June 25th, but it just occurred to me and I figured, what with the speed of stuff online, it was worth a shot.
Regardless, thank you for the my well-worn CD. It's given me much pleasure thru the years, and I can always put my hands on it quickly, since it's my only fur-covered cd ;)
Best always,
Bill McKinley

Martin,
Nice to see you're still swinging! ;)
You might recall crashing on my sofa on one or two of your Harvard Sq gigs. Back a number of years ago. Ok, like, 11 years. But who's counting?
Hope you're well, and making a joyful noise down east. Be sure and look me up should you be in the San Francisco area.
Best,
Alan

December 17, 2007
Hi Martin,
I really enjoyed your concert at the grade school in Winthrop. I'm the Aunt of a 4th Grader named Gen. I brought my new bunddle of joy with me. His name is George. He was one week old to the day on the day of the concert and he really enjoyed the music and the movement of my sway. George has been listening to classical, dance, folk, and folk rock at home. Music is is great for building his creative mind, and local music is exciting because we can catch some concerts in the park once the weather is warm again.
We like listening to a CD of the boneheads too. I've enjoyed that band since I was only 15 years old. But I don't think their currently together. Calipso Soldier is a good band too, but I wouldn't take a baby to Sully's Tavern :)
Uncle Hubert was a strikingly touching song. One lyric said he would ask the congregration to rise for the singing of the Old Hundreth. We sing that every week at the UU church. Was your Uncle a Uniterian Minister? If not what denomination did he teach? I don't discriminate, so there is no wrong answer.
Thanks again for being George's first music concert. Your name will be in his baby book. And I'm egar to have Gen take you CD from the library.
Merry Christmas!
morgan from winthrop grade school

Martin - What fun I'm having teaching 4 year olds this year. At the end of a long and tiring day, we sometimes "Put on (your) Dancin' Shoes" and let go of some pent up energy - they, at least, have energy at the end of the day!
Hopefully you're beginning to warm up now in Maine - we sure are in GA!
Take care--

Hello Martin, Do you remeber me? I was the crazy kid named Andrew. I was the one who made the Bite the Deer's rear song. I have a question, are you married to that girl that was always with you named Lyn?
Your soon going to get a letter from our classroom, in fact it's siting right in front of me. I had a lot more fun then I thought. Thanks for coming to our school. P.S. Happy St. Patrick's day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Martin! I like your web site. I am glad that I am able to contact you so easily. I wondered if you would be interested in visiting the two third grade classrooms here at Cape Cod Hill School. We are working on the history of the mid 1800's and wondered if you would be able to sing with them from the Gold Rush era songs such as Old Suzanna, Oh Californy, Clemintine. I bet there are some
Civil War tunes that would be appropriate too. I have played your CD and told them you came last year. They asked if you could come again. I told them I would check. I wondered whether you would be able to come in on Friday, March 2. It would be a culminating activity for one part of our historical unit. Let me know whether this would be possible and how much time and your fee for this kiind of performance. We can talk about details.
Thanks so much.

Except for the pictures of HIM, this is a swell website, isn't it. Like HIMSELF, it's loaded with energy and enthusiasm and community spirit. If I had kids in school, I'd make sure the school hired Martin. But I am old, now, and my kids are all grown up and I can't remember where they went to school. Maybe we can all figure out how to get Martin some house concerts during 2006. In the afternoon he can sing to the kiddies and in the evening he can sing to old people, such as myself. That's the ticket! I will figure out how to do this.

Caught most of your show on WMPG today. Turned on the radio and it took me all of about 3 seconds to recognise your unique voice. You are sounding better than ever! Love the new web site. The Trout Fishing thing is cool, as are the Bonnie and Nashville things.
Folks, I've performed with Martin many times over the years, and you won't find a more professional performer, nor one that gives their all more than this guy does. Martin rocks!

I have been performing and emcee-ing for years (okay, decades), and when I first saw you do your thing on stage 15 years ago, I thought "this guy has got IT; that presence, spirit, and voice that makes one a great writer and performer." It turns out that you are also one heck of a teacher too; inciting others to create and perform. Thanks for being who you are and doing what you do!
